Christians and
Jews call her Lilith, She was known to the Greeks as Lilim, the Etruscans as
Lenith, the Sumarians as lilitu, and the Egyptians as Heka. Ancient Jewish texts mark her as being Adam’s first wife. When she demanded equality and was
rebuffed, she left the Garden of Eden and was replaced by Eve. She then mated
with Satan begetting the demon Djinn, aka the first Genie. God then took away all her demonic children. In response she started stealing the souls
of human babies. The thing she feared most was her own name. Whenever she saw
it or heard it she would flee. Thus the creation of the lullaby, or Lilith-bye.
In Rise of the
Raven Knights, Lilith portrays the Queen of Hell. Small town Mayor Whitney McCracken, leader of an evil
witch coven, is convinced that summonsing the soul of Lilith into her own body will allow her to manipulate the
demoness’ powers to go along with powers from an ancient Mayan crystal skull she possesses to gain
unlimited political power. She wants to rule the world!
To gain funds
for her desired rise McCracken plans to rape her town’s environment of its
natural resources. She has all the people who stand in her way killed,
including Eliza Strum, the feared and misunderstood local town witch, who
trained Whitney McCracken before the student's wicked turn. Before her death,
Strum foresaw her and the others’ murders and placed a curse on all McCracken’s
victims so that their souls should occupy the magick armor of undead black knights
that can shape-shift into ravens. The curse will last until these ‘Raven
Knights’ can avenge her death and bring the cold hand of justice down upon the
McCracken coven.
The only thing left
standing in McCracken’s way: inexperienced brother-sister witches, Gazzy and Lori
Windstorm, who are Eliza Strum’s estranged children, taken from her when they
were babies. Upon Strum’s death they unknowingly bequeathed all her mystical powers,
property and control of an order of undead warriors, the Raven Knights. Gazzy
and Lori must learn the secrets to their supernatural shape-shifting abilities
quickly, because the McCracken coven will stop at nothing to see them dead.
Though Lilith
is heavily involved with the plot of Rise of the Raven Knights, she plays but a
bit part. She really comes to life in my next novel: Rise and Fall of the Onyx
Dragons, Suffer the Witch Chronicles II.

ReplyDeleteI love Tool! You're right, their lyrics can be difficult to decipher. I have read though, that guitarist Adam Jones is deep into mystical sciences, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least! Thanks!
